ABOUT US
COMPANY BRIEF HISTORY
Descendants Women and Youth Empowerment NPC is registered in December 2017, in terms of the south African laws, and it based in Gauteng, Tshwane. Currently managed by three directors.
Descendants Women and Youth Empowerment NPC was founded based on many challenges caused by the high rate of unemployment in South Africa, whereby women, mostly black Africans, youth from disadvantaged backgrounds, namely orphans, and unskilled people are the most affected. They are also the most vulnerable to the forces of the labour market, especially women and youth of colour who mainly hold low-skilled jobs.
ABOUT DWYE
Driven by the urgent need to address unemployment—particularly among women—DWYE ( DESCENDANTS WOMEN AND YOUTH FOR EMPOWERMENT) is committed to transforming lives through skill development, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment. According to South Africa’s Quarterly Labour Force Survey (Q1: 2021), the unemployment rate for women was 34.0%, significantly higher than the 31.4% recorded for men. DWYE recognizes this gap and actively works to uplift unemployed women and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds by equipping them with practical, income-generating skills that enhance their self-reliance and participation in the economy.
Our programs offer hands-on training in everyday life-sustaining and marketable vocations such as:
Farming & Livestock Management (including vegetable production and animal husbandry)
Carpentry and Upholstery
At DWYE, we believe that training without opportunity is ineffective, and support without initiative leads only to temporary relief. That’s why we go beyond skill development—we provide a financial ecosystem that helps participants start small businesses, access markets, and grow sustainably. By creating pathways to financial freedom, we multiply farm and livestock outputs to ensure food security, reduce dependency, and enable wealth creation among the underprivileged.
DWYE also champions financial inclusion by connecting underserved youth—particularly orphans and those with no access to resources—to opportunities for education, career advancement, and entrepreneurship. Our guiding principles are rooted in the belief that:
“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”
“Educate a man, and you educate an individual. Educate a woman, and you educate a nation.”
We believe women are the anchors of families and communities, and empowering them means uplifting generations. Through vocational training, mentorship, and commerce-based support, DWYE is committed to building a future where no one is left behind.
