Our projects
Our organization is involved in numerous projects
Women and youth play a vital role in their communities, yet they often face significant barriers to economic empowerment, including limited access to education, vocational training, and financial resources. The lack of practical skills and educational opportunities hinders their ability to achieve self-reliance and improve their quality of life. DWYE aims at providing practical skills and entrepreneurship to unemployed women and youths, enabling them to become self-reliant and active contributors to their communities. Women are responsible for supporting their families and seeking opportunities for self-reliance through empowerment and skills development to improve their economic situations. DWYE’s women and youth empowerment program in South Africa not only enhances their individual capabilities but also contributes to the overall socio-economic growth of communities.
Farming
In South Africa, where many women, single mothers, and young people face high unemployment and food insecurity, DWYE uses vegetable farming as a tool for empowerment. By teaching practical gardening skills—like growing spinach, tomatoes, and cabbage—we help individuals feed their families and earn an income from small backyard or community gardens. This approach not only promotes food security but also builds self-reliance and economic freedom, turning simple gardens into a source of hope and opportunity.
Poultry Livestock
Raising chickens, goats, or rabbits offers a reliable way for women and youth in South Africa to generate income and improve food security. Through DWYE’s support in basic livestock care, feeding, and breeding, participants can start small-scale projects that grow into sustainable businesses. Livestock farming provides daily essentials like eggs and meat, while also creating opportunities to sell to local markets—helping families become more self-reliant and financially stable.
CARPENTRY
This carpentry service is more than just building furniture—it’s about building lives. By training and employing single mothers and youth, the program offers a lifeline of practical skills, financial independence, and renewed confidence. Participants not only learn craftsmanship but also gain access to mentorship, business knowledge, and a supportive community. Through each measured cut and assembled joint, they carve a path toward self-sufficiency and empowerment, turning sawdust into opportunity and timber into transformation.
wellbeing
In response to the growing challenges of obesity, substance abuse, and depression among South African women and youth, DWYE promotes physical activity as a key part of well-being. Through community walks, aerobics, regular exercise, and hiking, our programs encourage healthy habits and a positive lifestyle. Physical activity helps improve brain function, academic focus, and long-term bone strength in young people, while reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and heart conditions in women. Most importantly, it supports mental health by easing symptoms of depression and anxiety—fostering resilience, confidence, and overall wellness in disadvantaged communities.
CHILD CARE
DWYE recognises the unique challenges faced by single mothers, especially those who are unemployed and have limited support. To help ease this burden, we offer childcare assistance through safe, nurturing spaces where children can learn, play, and grow while their mothers attend training or seek employment. This support not only gives single mothers peace of mind, but also promotes early childhood development and emotional stability for their children. By investing in both the mother and the child, DWYE helps build stronger, more resilient families and communities.
SUPPORTING EDUCATION
DWYE is committed to supporting the education of disadvantaged youth, especially orphans and those from low-income families who lack access to learning opportunities. We provide school supplies, mentorship, and access to information that helps them further their studies and develop career paths. Education is a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, and by investing in the youth, we empower the next generation with knowledge, skills, and the confidence to succeed. Our goal is to ensure that no young person is left behind due to a lack of resources or support.
FUNDRAISING
To sustain and expand our empowerment initiatives, DWYE organizes fundraising events and campaigns that directly support our programs. These efforts help raise the necessary funds for training, resources, and start-up support for women and youth. By contributing, supporters play a crucial role in enabling financial independence and creating lasting change in disadvantaged South African communities.
